Circles of Hope Telethon

Perkins
Center
for the Prevention of Child Abuse hosted its 26th Annual
Circles of Hope Telethon.
The event was held at the
Carl Perkins Civic
Center and was be
broadcast live on WBBJ TV ABC 7 from 1:00-10:00 pm.
This year's theme was Somewher e there's a child
- child
abuse is real. The
Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse was asking the community to get involved and join the team so
that we can get help to these children, because
now more than ever the need
is even great for our services.
And the community
DID get involved. The communities of West Tennessee raised
over 1 million dollars to continue the free services that
the Exchange Club Carl Perkins Center for Prevention of
Child Abuse.
Many volunteers from the Exchange
Club get involved and set up the staging on Saturday before
and are on hand all day Sunday. The volunteers do everything
from checking guests in to serving refreshments for our
guests to enjoy, to tearing down sets after the Telethon is
off the air.
"I cannot say enough good things about
the team of volunteers that came together this year to put
on such an outstanding show ," said
Tawnya Moore, 2009 Circles of Hope Telethon Chairperson.
"The 26th Annual Circles of Hope
Telethon was a success because of the countless volunteer
hours that go into it."
All funds raised are used
to provide programs and services to the children and
families of West Tennessee.
The Center now has 18 locations, serving in 20
counties and last year, served over 6,256 individuals. The
Center offers a variety of services designed to meet each
individuals needs.
Services offered by the Center include Crisis
intervention and case management, individual and group
counseling, child advocacy services, emergency services,
parenting training and parenting groups, supervised
visitation,
relative caregiver program, a food pantry, clothes closet,
and a toll free 24-hour hotline.
